As hybrid road/trail design built on a wider last than the previous generation’s narrow racing silhouettes, the 574 offered a uniquely versatile mix of new, different, uncomplicated, rugged, durable, and comfortable that was adopted as a closet staple across the globe. This iteration, the Tokyo Design Studio 574, takes inspiration from our first sneaker model, The Trackster.

The Tokyo Design Studio x New Balance 574 ‘Nimbus Cloud Classic Burgundy’ reworks the retro runner with a minimalist build and updated tooling. Housed within New Balance’s T-House concept store in Japan, the TDS team dresses the sneaker in a white mesh upper inspired by an archival model from the ‘60s dubbed the Trackster. The traditional ‘N’ logo is removed, but the leather saddle, suede overlays and external heel counter remain intact.
