The New Kintsugi Repair Kit: cherish the beauty of imperfection
Kintsugi originated in the late 15th century when the Emperor of Japan sent his damaged pottery back to Cishina for repair. On his return, the emperor noticed that ceramics were being repaired with metal staples. He immediately ordered his craftsmen to come up with something more aesthetically pleasing. The result: kintsugi (gold repair). The art of kintsugi became so popular that collectors deliberately broke valuable pottery so that it could be repaired with kintsugi's gold seams.
Driven by a sustainable mindset, Humade created the original New Kintsugi Repair Kit to fix broken items instead of throwing them away. In fact, instead of focusing on the flaws, the gold seams emphasize the cracks, celebrating the beauty of imperfection. By repairing an object, the product becomes unique and personal.
The New Kintsugi Repair Kit is assembled locally by a social enterprise that employs people with a distance to the labor market.
Product specifications:
Two component glue, 4gr gold powder, a brush, bamboo steering sticks and gloves
10g Putty to fill in missing bits and pieces
A step by step guide with detailed photos
The manual is available in: Dutch, English, Spanish, German or French.
Practical information:
One new Kintsugi repair kit can be used multiple times to repair up to 10 items and can be used on almost any other material, such as glass, wood, marble or hard plastics
Read the Kintsugi Kit manual before use
When you're done, let it dry for 48 hours to allow the glue to fully cure and then, ready to use!
The glue has been used for many years to repair kitchen utensils without complaint, but if you have any questions, please let us know.
